...jeff & i found out we were having a GIRL, so it was time to do a little shopping for some girly clothes. went to my favorite boutique for a couple special dresses, they are hand embroidered & so pretty. the little knitted hat is from breckenridge, co, one of my favorite towns, & a one of a kind. will look so cute on her in the winter. i framed the colorful fabric that we had from mexico. almost time to put up all the pics for the completed art wall. still need to make a couple more. & just as exciting jeff proposed to me this weekend & asked if i would say 'yes to forever'. absolutely, couldn't ask for anything better in my life right now & an unbelievable amount of happiness that i'm so thankful for. life is good...

A few more...
...additions to the room to make it more functional. the handpainted side table & toy chest i got at a sample sale for next to nothing, are original & so much better than any old table. the table will serve as storage & a place to set stuff when baby m is being rocked. the toy chest will hold toys & blankets. the wall shelves will display old & new items, all fun stuff for our little munchkin. small spaces can be a challenge when it comes to storage, but finding solutions can be fun if you make them creative. we're ahead of the game, the room is almost done. more arts & crafts projects to come. 20 more weeks to go, can't wait :)

The mobile...
...has begun. cute little fabric owls on yarn wrapped twigs will soon hang at different heights from a central source, just haven't completely decided what yet. thinking i want them to hang in a circle as opposed to a long row, i'll experiment & see which looks best. they will all hang above the crib for something bright, colorful, handmade & fun for the baby to look at. plus, owls are good luck & symbol of wisdom & protection :)

Happy...
...valentine's day this year, but next year will be even more fun because i can share my goofy, crafty gifts with our baby too :) i made jeff a little jar filled with tiny cute items each attached with a note just to remind him of how thankful i am to have him in my life & that he fills it with so much happiness. lots of love this year & many more to come!

Antique finds...
...from this weekend. my mom & i went to our favorite antique store in search of a few more pieces of vintage art for the baby's art wall. we found 2 really cute needlepoint pics, one of an owl & the other of a giraffe. i reframed them & now they will look great with the others. i want the art to be a mixture of old & new kid-like prints, will give the room more character. we also came across these old wooden counting bead toys. they sell these at ikea, but these are much cooler since they are originals. i love the older wooden toys so much better than all the plastic versions the stores sell now. the room is coming together, more fun stuff to come...

Little things...
...around the room. the top pic has a couple of vintage owls that i saved from an antique store in oklahoma & the blocks will be displayed on a shelf. the stuffed animals seem to be accumulating (there will be a diy toy container coming up within the next couple of months) & the quilt was handmade by a friend of my mom's when i was born. i've hung one pic, a picasso with line drawings of animals. in my book you can never have enough animals...ever since i moved into this house, i've enjoyed taking pics of all the small changes that have been made over time. i'm proud of my little house & i love that it's progress evolves with the changes in my life. it will always be a happy place, filled with creativity & color.

This weekend...
...i worked on a small art project. i got this wire hot air balloon a year or two ago from the antique store. can't tell you exactly why i liked it, but thought it was quirky so it came home with me. in the baby's room there is a hook on the ceiling in the corner that i've been thinking about what to hang from it. originally i thought about doing one of my book sculptures, but hanging multiples in the corner, although i thought that should be saved for a playroom/reading nook someday...sooo, i thought why not soften the hot air balloon up a bit with some yarn to match the art in the room on the opposite wall & voila, looks more babyish, colorful & more whymsical. stay tuned, more little projects to come...

One more...
...piece of art to add to the baby's art wall. i painted this when i was younger, so i think it's fitting to incorporate it somehow & it will add some character to the room. i'm going to try & work on another piece of art this weekend & start on the pieces to the mobile possibly. times goes by quickly, already almost 16 weeks, gotta start making stuff :)
